Oceanview Helicopters (OVHL) is a Canadian helicopter company based in Powell River, British Columbia, Canada that began operations in 1994. We now operate a fleet of helicopters working with clients throughout the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada, and also operate as a Transport Canada Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO).
Owned and operated by James Mode (President) and Bill Chernoff (Director of Maintenance) who are both actively involved in the flying and maintaining of Oceanview’s fleet of aircraft.

We have extensive experience in utility operations throughout Western Canada. In addition to regular longline work we perform Transport Canada approved hard line stringing operations, skid transfer operations, for flying personnel directly on or off of standing structures as well as external work platform operations for marker cone and bird deviator installations.

Oceanview Helicopters is involved in all facets of the forestry industry, including: Cedar shake flying and cedar saw log salvage (Hourly or per meter and from charter to our stump to dump logging operations), heli-logging support, tree planting, cone collection, engineering support, silviculture surveys, drip torch operations, and timber cruising.
Oceanview Helicopters offers a variety of environmental services from hydro-seeding to aerial fertilization using Isolair buckets. We also have several styles of grapples which have been used extensively in creek cleaning operations.
Oceanview Helicopters provides helicopter support to Canadian Wildlife Capture, in their ongoing operations in wildlife management. We provide fast, stable MD series aircraft, experienced crews with a positive professional attitude and a proven safety record to make quick work of your wildlife capture or survey project.
Oceanview Helicopters is very experienced in all mining related activities. This includes drill moves and support as well as soil sampling and geological mapping and surveying.
Oceanview Helicopters is a Transport Canada Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO), capable of providing maintenance for the following aircraft: MD 500 series, MD 520N, MD 600N and Bell 206 series.

Oceanview Helicopters exclusively operates the MD500D helicopter. The MD500 series of helicopters are widely regarded as the aircraft of choice for highly specialized operations. The compact dimensions as well as the five bladed rotor system make for a very stable and highly manoeuverable aircraft.
With over twenty years experience operating the MD500D helicopter, Oceanview Helicopters has a large supply of spare parts as well as a large amount of operations gear specifically designed for the 500D.
All our aircraft are equipped with Satellite phones and Latitude Technologies Skynode Tracking System.
Oceanview Helicopters has a fully integrated and supported Safety Management System (SMS).
But it is much more than a safety system, it is an integral part of our company culture.
Implemented in 2008, our SMS has taken our flight and maintenance operations to new levels, continually increasing safety through effective, open communication and risk management.
Oceanview Helicopters hold a BC Forest SAFE certificate and a Certificate of Recognition (COR) from the Alberta Construction Safety Association. This demonstrates leadership in making safety a priority and ensuring every employee, crew and passenger returns home safely.
